Kemptville has a large recreational area used for camping and sport fishing. It has a rich heritage which began with the Mi'kmaq and continued with settlers from Argyle and Roberts Island in the early 1800s. A forest fire swept through the area in 1820 and the then Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia named Kempt sent aid. It was in his honour that the settlement was named Kemptville. Adventurous visitors can kayak down the Tusket River's small rapids or take advantage of the many lakes and go boating, water skiing, tubing. or jet skiing.. |
