pub-0713.JPG These millestones used to be on what is now "Downey Brook", at Brass Hill, Shelburne County, that the first English settlers used to call "The old French Mill Stream". They were operated by the ancestors of the Acadian people now living in the Pubnico area. After the Expulsion, they were brought to Ryder's Brook mill in Central Argyle. They were then acquired in 1957 and brought to West Pubnico, where they were erected in 1965 near the Red Cap restaurant, where they now stand (S) |
