Comments: Hi Vanessa and Leotra
I am your cousin. I am Lois and Charles Smith, daughter.
I was thrilled to see your website. Good work for a job
well done.
I am sure that you aware that there a number of errors in
your webpage. E.G The picture of the Andersons is in fact
my grandparents,Rev C.N.Smith and Maude Smith. Rev.Smith
was the Pastor of the Rose of Sharon church which is now
called the Sharon Assembly,I believe.
I would love to talk with about some of the history.
Once again job well done.
Yours in cousinship

Comments: Would like info on boat dealers (yacht & commercial) in
Yarmouth. Planning a trip )Oct.2000 to your area to visit and investigate
Canadian boat purchases.
Comments: I used to spend summers in Nova Scotia as a child at my grandmother's
(Sluice Point, Amirault's Hill), and have just recently started spending
time there again. My grandmother is still going strong at 93 1/2
in Eel Brook. I'm just starting to appreciate Nova Scotia, and can't
wait for my next visit. Any information on how to research family
history (Muise)? Thanks.

Comments: Cape Forchu is a very nice place.
I hope i can be back very soon.
Comments: I enjoyed reading the guest book. I am another of the many
respondents who speak proudly of their roots in Yarmouth County and of
their enduring affection for the place and the people. Born in Darling's
Lake ( I understand it has been renamed), I went to (the original 4 room)
school to grade 9 in Port Maitland and finished at YCMHS. Although I left
for the RCAF and University when I was 17, I have returned many times to
visit and am looking forward to again later in September. Beware of my
wayward golf drives if you are on one of the areas golf courses!

HOME
YARMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA!
THE NAME ALONE SUGGESTS
THAT PLACE OF LONGING IN MY HEART
WHERE MY SOUL YET YEARNS TO REST.
YEA, THO I WALK THESE HILLS AND VALES
ACROSS THIS COUNTRY, FAIR,
MY HEART REMAINS IN YARMOUTH.
HOW I WISH THAT I WERE THERE.
TO REST, ONCE MORE, 'MONGST THOSE I LOVE
'MIDST THE SCENT OF SAND AND SEA ...
'ROUND THAT HOMEY KITCHEN WOOD STOVE
SIPPING CUPS OF "KAREN'S TEA".
ONCE MORE TO GAZE 'PON MILTON'S HORSE;
CLIMB THE ROCKS 'ROUND YARMOUTH'S LIGHT ...
OR, WATCH THE BOATS OFF SWEENEY'S WHARF
AS THEY SAIL IN FOR THE NIGHT.
AGAIN TO REST AT SLIDING ROCK
REMINISCING WITH A FRIEND ...
OR, TO SPEND SOME TIME OUT AT JOHN'S COVE
HAVING PICNICS IN THE SAND.
I MISS THE DAYS OF YEARS GONE BY
WHEN YOUTH WAS ON MY SIDE ...
WHEN TODAY WAS SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD
WHERE ONLY DREAMS ABIDE.
WHEN THE 'BURGERS DOWN AT CREASER'S
WERE A TREAT FOR JUST A DIME,
AND THE ODEON ON MAIN STREET
WAS A PLACE TO SPEND SOME TIME;
WHEN THE COKE PLANT 'CROSS FROM MILO
STILL SENT THEIR TRUCKS AROUND ...
AND COSMOS DOWN ON WATER STREET
EMPLOYED 'BOUT HALF THE TOWN.
GARDEN PARTIES STILL TOOK PLACE
UP NEAR THE GRAND HOTEL,
AND FROST PARK YET HAD BENCHES
WHERE ONE COULD REST A SPELL.
W.M.E.X. FROM BOSTON
HAD THE "WOO WOO GINSBERG SHOW"
WHERE WE'D HEAR THE LATEST ROCK N ROLL
ON OUR TRANSISTOR RADIO.
YES ... TIME DOES TAKE IT'S TELLING TOLL
ON THOSE OF US WHO ROAM ...
BUT, NOTHING CAN NOR WILL REPLACE
THE PLACE THE HEART CALLS "HOME".
E.W.SMITH
HI FOLKS: 'JUST MY WAY OF SAYING HOW MUCH I MISS YOU ALL.
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!
SINCERELY,
ED. SMITH

Comments: Hi,
It is nice to see that Yarmouth has a presence on the web. I
was born and raised there and left to finds work in the big city at the
age of 17, like a lot of young people from down east. Every now and again
it is nice to see familiar sites.
Do you think there will be more pictures of the common areas
of Yarmouth posted on the site sometime? Or maybe a link to the Vanguard
online? It sure would be nice to see what's up in Yarmouth now and then.
Bye for now,
Stacey T. Hamilton

over the Cosmos mill.
From 1975 to 1977 and 1979 to 1981 we enjoyed the warmth of the people,
the fresh air and the very fine seafood.

Comments: A beautiful village. It reminds me of the interior of Wales
The picture of the barn, apart from the bonnet roof, could be a scene
from Pembroke. I hope one day I can visit such a beautifil place. Though
it seems so far away from Brittian, although, I can hope. You must be very
proud of your picturesque community.
Comments: It certainly is refreshing to peruse web-pages from one's
home town. I'm sure that many of us who have left over the years have been
able to reunite after ... well, life-times, in some cases. Thank you, from
the Garden of my Heart.
Comments: My wife and I are looking foward to visiting your area the
summer of 2001.
Comments: just started looking around ,looking for anything about abrims
river and merrill hill areas.

Comments: Hi. 'Just browsing your roster of names
in your Guest Book, again. Thanks to you, I've already found several old
and dear friends whom I haven't seen since the early to mid sixties. This
is a site that I accidentally stumbled across in my attempt to get to learn
how to use this contraption we call a computer. It's also a site that I
find hard ... if not impossible, to stay away from. Many thanks, and keep
on rollin'.

Comments: Hi - recently visited Yarmouth via the Cat. Had a lovely
time. Walked/shopped Yarmouth for 2 hours. Lovely little town.
When we went up the hill from the Cat, we turned left and stayed on
the same side of the street. Visited a little shop - I think it was
a florist.
Saw a dish in the window that I really liked and am very sorry now
that I didn't buy it. Can you by any chance give me the name/telephone
number/
e-mail address of the shop so I can contact them?
Would really appreciate any help.
Sincerely - Sue Henry

Comments: I was stuck in Yarmouth while my friend and I got our car
fixed so we could get back to Connecticut. Missed the ferry twice. My friend
Jen got her tongue pierced. So it was worth the wait. Well we finally made
it back home after driving all night. Thanks to all you wonderful canadians
who helped out two Connecticains with car trouble. Thanks for not leaving
us on the side of the road. We will never forget any of you!

Comments: Hello, again:
I just wish to thank the folks who wrote to me with lovely
things to say regarding my tribute to my/our home town entitled "HOME".
It's so true ... growing up in Yarmouth saw me and I'm sure a number of
others of my generation, looking forward to the "greener pastures" elsewhere.
Well ... I've found out the hard way that the greenest pastures are always
the ones we leave behind when we leave home. I realize that many of the
youth in Yarmouth believe this to be somewhat hokey, but ... Just listen
to the yearning in the sentiments written by so many of us who did just
that. When one goes away, one grows away and when all is said and done
... there really is no place like home.
God bless you all ... and I really am looking forward to being home
come the Reunion of 2005.
