Rumor:
1. A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth. 2. Unverified information received from another; hearsay. There have been some very alarming rumors that have circulated over
the years with regard to the destructive nature of some of the decision
making policies of some of the more prominent citizens of the Yarmouth
area. I do not know if these are true or not but my hope is that
by putting them up on this web site that some verification of the validity
of these rumors can be ascertained. If you have any comments that
support or refute these accusations or would like to add you own concerns
please email me:

4. Apparently several million dollars was available
to renovate Yarmouth theater T'Yarc. Or maybe to construct
a new theatre on the waterfront. Apparently there was concern
by the directors of T'Yarc and the money walked away.

2. The first rumor is an old one, concerning the
Michelin tire.
Apparently they wanted to set up in Yarmouth but certain influential businessmen
thought that this would cause wages to increase in the area so they squashed
the plans of Michelin to establish here.

1. It has been said that there were plans to expand the Yarmouth airport
and put a container facility there. The deal was almost complete
but a comment by a town council member put an end to that.

On the + side
On the flip side of the coin there have been some very good things that have happened in our area notably the new arena, even if it was built a bit to small, and the waterfront area development is going very well. The side walks look good and run almost the full length of Water street - WELL DONE! Also another success story is the development of the old Cotton Mill. This once vacant building has been transformed into and industrial complex that is employing many individuals- 5 stars for that. |
